2008 wedding trends : how to be lush !

I read few posts about the 2008 wedding trends and here are some viewpoints I agree with. The first one is about a new trend in wedding decoration. Inspired by  the opulence of French history and thanks to Marie Antoinette film, luxury and lush are back in the wedding decoration.  

The wedding decoration is based on white and gold colors with a luxury of flowers, tulle, candels, brocade linens and petals. Hand painted wedding invitations are perfect for such a  wedding event. We are very far from the zen attitude.  Continue reading →

Since 2002, Max Chaoul has been awarderd by the Wedding Trends and News magazine. He is considered to be the best French designer for wedding dresses.

The wedding lubies

I read an interesting post on Forbes that dealt with the lubies of celebrities for their weddings. Oviously it was an economic viewpoint but it drew my attention to the importance of logistics in a wedding. When Madonna got married with Guy Ritchie, she spent $ 2,100,000. $ 293,000 were dedicated to champagne, $ 58,000 to flights and they needed $219,000 to rent the whole castle (and its 47 rooms). The celebrity wedding had a positive impact on the turism since then.

Catherine Zeta Jones was looking for a simply and intimate wedding party. She chose the Plaza in NYC (« down home ») and she spent $ 1,500,000 as the new Mrs Douglas. Her wedding lubies were clear : a choir of 40 members and only 20,000 creeam coloured roses. Continue reading →

Making an earthfriendly wedding party is not a big deal! Here are some ideas to celebrate a green wedding. Weddings : what do the colors mean ?

When you plan to organise your wedding party, you have very often colors in mind. Our unconscious mind associate colors with events. As far as I’m concerned, white is known to be the most famous color for wedding receptions. Anyway, do we know exactly what colors mean. Through history, dream language, religion and psychology, colors have symbolic meanings.   Let’s have a look to some emblems.

First of all, white means light and divinity. Egyptians used to put white shrouds on their departed relatives. Druids wore white clothes and so on. The wedding dress is white because this color represents purity, chastity and virtue. White flowers like lily or white birds like dove are emblems of peace.

Secondly, red is sometimes used in a wedding decoration because red is linked with the divine love. Red express life, optimism and sex. To a certain extend, red stands for conquest and seduction but also for power. In Peru, soldiers are in red !

How to win a free wedding reception ?

Easter is here and the wedding times is coming ! As I read a lot about weddings, I’ve noticed so many wedding contests. Indeed some suppliers for venues, décoration, dresses or travel agencies create contest every year.  It’s a good way to advertise.  

The contest I prefer is one in the Vermont. Vermont welcome more than 5000 weddings per year. The wedding industry has become a strategic point for the whole business in Vermont. 30% of the married couples come from another state to celebrate their wedding in Vermont. The marketing and tourist department created in 2005 a wedding contest. The objective was to appeal much more couples from other states in the USA. The contest was advertised in 17 states and in Canada. Local suppliers sponsored the event, by offering an entire wedding reception. To win, you had to write one story about your ideal wedding reception in Vermont and one story about your life. The organizers asked for a funny or beautiful love story

Unfortunately, they received letters full of diseases, unemployment…asking for help. It wasn’t exactly the spirit of this wedding contest. Anyway, the winners wrote a basic letter about their love and winned the wedding contest. The bride and the groom had no room for creativity in order to custom their wedding reception. Suppliers had decided before what they would offer. Despite of this, I’m sure the couple and their guests enjoyed a free wedding reception.

There are so many cliché about the wedding reception that sometimes the bride and the groom forget to be spontaneous. For the decoration they choose white tablecloth, white and pink flowers, and add a few hearts on the wall. A wedding reception must be romantic !!

Forget about the white tablecloths, welcome colors for wedding receptions ! When decorating your wedding event, the main start is to choose the decoration. Selecting the right table linens can create a trendy and elegant wedding decoration.

Silver is a nice color to work with. White flowers and silver tableware enhance the romantic scenery of the wedding reception.

Pastel blue or rose linens can be associated with huge armchairs and big vases. A golden note with candles add a serene atmosphere to your wedding reception.
