Most of the brides I work with are keen on peonies or lavender, or both. I totally understand them as lavender reflects the image of France and peonies are very romantic flowers. Of course, it’s not a good idea to mix them for a wedding decor, but I wanted to write a post about them because unfortunately you can’t have peonies nor lavender all the year long for your wedding.
As a matter of fact, the end of the season for peonies is middle of June. It’s very difficult to find peonies after and quite impossible at the end of June or beginning of July. Take into account the season, otherwise you may be very sad when you first meet the florist. Most of them buy the flowers directly in Holand, so the situation is quite the same all over Europe, even if your wedding doesn’t take place in France !
In France, lavender fields are really appreciated by the bridal couple for pictures and sometimes lavender is used in the wedding decor. Be aware that the lavender season stops after the middle or the end of July. Take this into account when you speak with the photographer (if he or she doesn’t live in France for instance).
